Any hitch for U.S. 09 A4 Avant?
Uhaul has offered to make a custom hitch for $450 (installed). They need a local dealer or A4 wagon owner to let them borrow their car for a few hours to make measurements at their Tempe Arizona facility. Then they would design and fab the hitch and send it to a local Uhaul dealer for the installation.
I suspect this is a fairly normal path for them to create new designs. That is, it would then become available for all.
I may try this route if nothing pops up within a few months.

Curt Mfg now has a hitch, which UHaul will sell you and install. I plan to get UHaul to install it on my 09 A4 Avant--primary use is to carry a couple of bikes.
An interesting note from Bob Krisher at UHaul about the need to provide stabilizing straps if you carry two bikes on this or any similar hitch-mounted bike rack:
I have included a link to the Curt Mfg company who makes the hitch we
label as 29317 ... Curt # 11195.(released 8-26-09)

When you see the instructions , you will notice the strict warning of the manufacurere stating that .. 'all non-trailer loads... must be supported by auxiliary stablizing straps.' Any stabilizing support strap attached to the bike rack and the roof rack supports would be adequate.
Generally, most of the class one style hitches that we have seen for hitch racking, are not supported either by hardware, reinforcement plates or vehicle chassis strength. The 29137 model falls into this category at the manufacture level.
Please also note, the recommendation is that bolts be retorqued at periodic intervals. In additon to a lifetime replacement warranty, we also retorque and check hitches free of charge for the lifetime of the hitch.
