When does the turbo kick in?
Does anyone have a reliable, technical reference pointing to where the turbo kicks in? That is, at what rpm?
Or perhaps someone has a turbo gauge and has measured it?
Presumably it is much lower than the trigger point on my allroad 2.7T. On the allroad, the turbo kicks in at high enough rpm that you can drive around without it on for a while. Then you ask for a bit more gas and it tosses your head back. That doesn't happen on the 2.0T, which seems to kick in near idle--a guess based on the torque curve and comments.

The 2.0 has a fairly small turbo that spools up fairly quickly. I don't know what the boost curve looks like but like illiad said, there is solid power available at 1500 RPM which means the turbo is likely spooling and coming up to boost well below that.
