Default Faint buzzing drone.

I have a 2011 A4 premium plus with 59000 miles. I just started hearing a faint buzzing sound almost like a faint mid pitch drone from the drivetrain. It corresponds to the speed of the car and not the rpm's of the engine. The pitch increases as the speed builds. It's hard to pin point the exact location but it seems to be coming from under the driver seat. The noise is most noticeable around 40 mph. I am planning to take it to the dealer next week. I will add I have Blizzak winter tires but this is the 3rd. winter on them and never had tire noise from them before. Just looking for some input before the dealer sees it.

Service manager drove and he thinks it is a bad wheel bearing. Will find out tomorrow after they get it on the lift. $$

Assumption is reasonable and costs should not be out of this world. I would guess that it should be around $500 (I would hope less but it's not unheard of to go slightly over). Let's hope you have a dealership that doesn't charge extraordinary amounts of labor for this job.

Right front wheel bearing. It going to be a little over $800. I know things break and wear out but considering this is my wife's car and it's pretty much been babied all it's life I'm surprised it went at 59000. Audi Newton Newton NJ. They do good work but not cheap.

Ouch! 800 is definitely in the very upper quadrant of what this job should cost. I'm surprised they only recommended to replace one. Usually they wear equally so whatever caused the one to fail at 59k will probably make the other side fail shortly after.

Roads in NJ BAD (sound like Trump). I had a bearing go in my daughter's 2003 A4 and the indie shop recommended only doing the one, and I have trusted his work for a decade.

Well in case of an "accident" or issue that caused the immediate failure I can see it but if it appears like regular wear and tear I would consider replacing both.
Either way - issue resolved for now, no need to worry about the other one until it starts acting up
