iPod hookup is in the glove box?
I've been in the market for a new wagon (coming from 2005 Subaru Outback XT) and noticed a few posts that mentioned the AMI hookup being located in the glove box. Is this the case for all models of the MMI? Is there not one in the armrest?
TIA!
TIA!
This is true... at least for my 2011 Avant. I find this to be very annoying and therefore do not use it for my iPhone very often. I leave my iPod hooked up for daily drives and switch it out with my phone on longer drives.
Always thought this was something in the armrest. Makes it difficult for a driver to switch out.

Ya, the glove box connection sucks. I just bought a extension cable for now and have it laying next to the console. I'm a bit lazy but I did spend an hour trying to figure out the best way to run the extension cable and then gave up and tucked it along side of the console for now.
Hey everyone, new S4 owner here. Searched the forums and this seems to be a good thread to jump onto and post my question.
Like others I find using the glove box MMI connector for my iPhone a pain every time I enter and exit the vehicle. I think I can HD BT stream but I don't really want to be futzing with my iPhone play lists when I have a perfectly good feature in my car that integrates with the sound system, dashboard and steering wheel.
I'm wondering if it makes sense to pick up a used or cheap iPod dedicated for use in the glove box. I can sync it with my laptop once in a while (or possibly via iCloud - an actual use for built-in T-Mobile wireless in my new car??). I'll need to plug my iPhone into the center console power outlet but at least I'll have access to email and text messages if needed (not while driving, of course).
What are others doing?
Thanks!

We're doing what you suggested. We keep one of our older iPods in the glove box at all times and update periodically as we buy new music or want to change what is on there. Seems to work best for us.
that'll be dope, i'll be contacting my local dealer then
