I wanted to create an up-to-date thread for a Stasis Engine tune. When I was researching ECU upgrades I wasn't always able to find recent posts. Hopefully this thread will help those with any questions about the tune. I hope to update this thread in the next couple months with my experience.

I've only had it a couple days, but here is my initial impression:
- Average day to day driving in traffic feels the same to me

- The power band picks up slightly earlier. 1750rpm vs 2250rpm. i'll update these figures after more testing

- Drastically faster @ WOT from a dead stop. Stasis claims the car is now 5.4sec 0-60. so about 1 second faster.

- Surprisingly, fuel economy seems a little higher. My average fuel economy since Ive had the car has always been 18-23mpg (city). Lately I've been hitting 26mpg in the car on the way to work, which is just city streets driving. I definitely want to update this and see what my average is over a month or so.

- Power is smooth, and not jerky, feels just as smooth as stock configuration, just faster

I'll be taking the car to the track in a few weeks so I'll post how different the car performs as well. Last time i remember feeling that this little 2.0T was just too slow, no match for a lot of the cars out there. i was easily caught on every straight. This 50hp boost should help improve things a lot.

So fuel economy hasn't really changed at all. I think I was hoping it would improve, but after all this time it seems pretty much the same.

Thats something in itself though because my car is putting out more power without the fuel economy suffering.

Still feels more powerful than stock. I drive a stock Audi when i get service done and do a little testing with it. haha

 

Thanks for the summary on your experience. The Stasis software update is something I'd like to upgrade to in the next year or so. Hoping the price will drop a little more by then.

 

Wanted to point out that I've gotten somewhere between $7-$10k worth of warranty work done on the car recently. Glad I went with Stasis, no worries at all.

After much bitching and complaining I finally got the dealership to do something about the oil consumption. After everything they tried failed the final step was new pistons!!

1 day after I picked the car up with new pistons I got a CEL, turbo underboost code. turns out the turbo was bad?!?! they claim it was a coincidence but I'm betting they just didn't piece the car back together correctly. especially since I've never heard of these cars having turbo problems.

I've heard several people speculate on this forum about Stasis not covering warranty issues, etc. Mostly people just passing on rumors. I'm living proof that you can have a Stasis tune, and get major warranty work done.

Since I don't want to be one of those that passes rumors and talks about tunes they don't have experience with I'll let you decide whether you think the dealership would have replaced my pistons and turbo if I had another tune (APR, GIAC, etc).


My advice: If you just like modding a car or may even go to an auto-cross event from time to time then I think a more affordable tune might suite you, but if you push the car to its absolute limits and/or are dreading common issues (e.g., oil consumption) then I suggest Stasis
