Default Need Advice - Buying new A4 2.0T Prestige 6MT with possible issue?!

Hi Everyone!

I am new to the forum and to the Audi world. I have been driving Hondas and currently an Infiniti till now. Trying to diversify into the greatness that is Audi .

I am currently looking at a 2010 Audi A4 2.OT Prestige with a 6-speed. The car has about 31K miles and is in excellent condition being sold by a BMW pre-owned dealership. The problem and concern in my mind came up when I saw the carfax that they provided. It showed that at 28,900 miles it had a repair that required the transmission to be removed and then 600 miled later at 29,500 miles it had another report saying transmission removed for repair to be performed.... at such low mileage... this concerned me... then it occured to me that these might be issues that were covered under warranty as it appeared the car was a CPO.

I have called the Audi dealers that did the work to the tranny and will hear from them tomorrow and possibly have the service listing faxed to me. I am just concerned if this is something that I should walk away from? The price point in good and it is very hard to find a Prestige in Black with a 6 speed and the Bang & Olufsen system.... so I am hoping its not a serious issue... just wanted to see if you fellow A4 owners had come across something similar with your mean machines ??

I look forward to hearing from you all !

Best Regards,

R

Ask an audi dealer to print you out any/all of the work that has been done to the vehicle since it was put in service. As long as the work was done at an Audi dealer it will be in the system. It sounds to me to be a bit unusual for the transmission to be pulled at that mileage. If you are buying the vehicle at a BMW dealer, then you will only be covered under the new vehicle warranty and not the CPO warranty. Something to consider.

Any repairs that need to be done while still under the original manufacturers warranty (4 yrs/ 50K) will be covered by Audi. After that point it will be on your dime. I have a 2009 A4 prestige w/ B&O sound system that I bought used. At 53,400 miles the B&O transformer died. The new part cost $1400. The best the dealership could do for me was to give me a 15% discount which basically paid for the labor.

You could look into buying a 3rd party extended warranty. Just make sure you read the fine print.

With that said, I really love my car. Good luck with your decision.

I have a MT 2010 A4 Prestige. Some had an issue with the clutch on this MY and the way the car was designed, you have to pull the Transmission to get to the clutch. There probably isn't anything wrong with the Transmission itself. Clutch issues are no big deal and should not sway you from buying this car. You will love it!

Let us know what you decide.
