Default New A4 ESP - is off really off?

Hi all. I'm considering the purchase of a 2010 or 2011 A4 and I haven't been able to find the answer to this question. When one turns the ESP off, is it truly off, or is it the same as in sister company VW's products where it will still turn on if it deems it necessary? Thanks much!

when it's off it's off i'm pretty sure. that's how the S series and R8's can do burnouts. when i bought my car the salesman told me to turn off the ESP if i want to peel the tires too. i always keep it on though. it's an amazing technology. i've made 90 degree turns going at blistering speeds and the ESP keeps it from slipping all over the road.

ESP off is really off. Make sure you hold the button down for 5 seconds.
