Yeah it should be the same at all dealerships. There is a cap form the dealer can fill out after performing the TSB and all steps have been done through Audi tech line that the dealership can fill out and request assist for them to cover the replacement. We have done 5 or 6 at our dealership and only 1 had been under base warranty. They have covered the rest. Hope this helps.

Is this oil consumption problem isolated to the 2.0 engines or does it seem to affect many of their current or recent powerplants?

Just the 2.0 but there are some other issues with the 3.2 but less of a problem.

The issues were really just in the 09's. All of these cars will use oil. It is a turbocharged engine running full synthetic oil. So be prepared to go through some oil. On a side note mine got to going through a qt every 750 miles. That's a little excessive. But best thing is to see exactly how muh you're going through in around 1000-1500 miles. Most of these cars are atill being repaired and the newer ones don't deally have any issues so don't worry. They're great cars still and if anyone needs any help just let me know. Not necessarily true. At the introduction of the 2.0L turbo engine the oil consumption issues started to show up. Audi put together a 3 phase fix which helped . In 2009 they introduced a redesign to the 2.0L engine. The oil issue continued and it even has been seen in the 2011's and 2012's. It seems to be the luck of the draw. Just go into it with your eyes open but make sure you carry a quart in the boot.

I too had the oil consumption issue with my wife's '09 A4 2.0t. It was using a quart of oil in under a 1,000 miles. I took it to the dealer and they performed Stage 1. No help at all. Took it back and they told me that Audi was stepping up and "goodwilling" the engine rebuild which consisted of new pistons and rings. We have driven it about 8,000 miles now an have had absolutely no issues since. The dealership provided us with a loaner and washed my wife's car afterwards.

On a side note, I have a buddy that is a VW technician at a VW dealership for the auto group that I work for. He said VW had the same issues with their 2.0t engines and VW basically told their customers to "pound sand". He said the issue is that the piston ring supplier put the wrong size piston rings in the right package and VW/Audi used them unaware of the issue. They found out and fixed the issue for the 2010 model year. That is why only the 2009 A4 2.0t is covered. Is this true? I have no clue. My buddy is a top level master certified VW tech and he knows his stuff. He is the only one in about a 200 mile radius that is certified to work on the VW Phaeton. I just know Audi stepped up and fixed it.

2009 Audi A4 2.0T w/ 68,000 miles. Out of warranty. Local Dealer did Oil Test #1 and oil light came on after 1,000 miles. No charge. Expect they will do Oil Test #2 now. What out of pocket costs have folks had to pay for which fixes?

We paid ZERO dollars for the work done on our car. Goodwilled 100% by Audi.
