Default Pistons/Rings Replaced = Still Burning Oil Help

Hello,

I was burning about .98L/1000km. Did oil consumption test and failed. Changed the pistons and rings.
It is still burning oil. Told me to try a few thousand kms for the rings to sit properly. 5000km later. It is burning about .85L/1000km, that wasn't the problems.

Audi topped it off 650kms ago and now it is at 50%. They refuse to do another oil consumption test. I have to pay for it on my own...

What can i do?

How do I go about doing that?
I have called the customer relations number and they said I have to take it up with the dealer.

So why were the rings replaced in the first place? If the engine had been neglected to the point that the rings were worn out don't you think there are other worn parts , valve guides , turbo ect.

Sounds like they tried a band aid repair that was far from complete to begin with.

The 2009 Audi Engines had a bad batch of rings. The normal procedure is to replace the pistons/rings and that usually solves the problem. A very expensive fix.

In my case, this did not solve my issue.

I wonder what they will do next. Replace the block or a new engine?

There would need to determine exactly what is causing the problem. Cylinder leak test , compression test. If the heads have to come off again they will probably have to measure the cylinder walls to make sure they are round & not beyond spec.

I guess another thing to check is to make sure the crankcase vent valve is good.

If they are anything like our local VW dealer they will tell you it's normal & send you on your way.

Good luck!

They opened the engine and changed the pistons and rings, i hope they did check the walls and everything.

I'm wondering how do I contact Audi Corp.

Usually there is contact information in your owner's manual (or perhaps in a separate warranty booklet - not sure how Audi handles it.)

Default Bye A4

Well I loved my 2006 A4 1.8T and I loved my 2009 A4 2.oT except for using a lot of oil. After the test Audi offered to replace the rings and pistons. I did not want to have anything that extreme done on a 2009 vehicle. My Dealer (Oneonta) mentined shopping for a new vehicle but did not follow up.

So...... I traded it in with 47,000 miles. Got a good trade in so I left the Audi family. Probably will mot return. I did love the quattro in the snow though.
