i "got" Audi Care but i didn't pay for... when i was negotiating the car i just told my salesman that i know other dealerships are including it..

and, if you are leasing, Audi Care also gives you another point on residual..

 

I'm about to lease an A-4 convertible. My dealer said that Audi Care covers brakes (pads and rotors). However, on the Audi website there is nothing that says that brakes are covered. Is the dealer BS-ing me? If so, I may call his bluff and tell him to keep the car and take a walk.

 

I have Audi care and I'm pretty sure that pads & rotors aren't covered as normal wear and tear items.

 

You are being BS'd. Pads and rotors are NOT covered under the Audi Care plan. It only covers scheduled maintenance and Pads and Rotors are NOT a scheduled maintenance item. They are replaced when they wear out which can be different for alot of drivers. Tell them to put that in writing on the sales contract if they are so sure. I'm guessing these days car sales people will say anything to get a sale, therefore don't trust them unless you know them or have dealt with them prior and they've proven their trust worthy.

No I did not purchase the audicare but was thinking about it. I have a question though, my salesman made it seem like the scheduled maint was required for the warranty to stay in place. Is this the case? I have never heard of this and therefore didnt buy the audicare before I did my research. I also now got the 15K service paid for by AoA because of issues with my dealership so would it be pointless to pay for the audicare at this point?

 

I bought the Audi care package. But it cost me 740$ not 650$. That's the price that they showed me. I am in CA. Are the brakepads really covered? I doubt it unless they find a defect in the original ones.

The only requirement to maintain your manf. warranty is you perform the regular scheduled maintenance. It can be done by anyone so long as you have proof should it come up (receipt for labor, materials, etc).

Ask them what they charge for the other schedule service intervals after 15K and compare - the only way to know if you plan on having the dealer perform the service.

 

I, too, was told at my Audi dealer that brakes were covered under Audi Care, and that was one of the selling points for me. Someone above says it was covered... can anyone else confirm or deny that this is truly covered? Since it would seem like quite a lie if multiple dealers are saying this...

 

Brakes are not covered. All you have to do is read the back of an Audi Care purchase agreement (dealer has this) which clearly states:

"All parts or services not listed in the scheduled maintenance booklet will not be covered under this plan. Examples of items not covered include, but are not limited to: mechanical breakdown repairs, hoses, brake pads and linings, wheel alignment and balancing. In addition, Audi will not pay for Plan maintenance services that are performed by other than an authorized Audi dealership, loss of time, inconvenience or other incidental or consequential loss."

If your dealer is stating the brakes are covered, have him whip out a copy of the Audi Care Agreement and then provide a signed addendum in writing from the dealer at time of Audi Care purchase (guess what they'll say to that one...). If the dealer agrees (unlikely), then only that dealer will cover the brakes. Other Audi dealers would not cover the brakes in that case as it's not part of the Audi Care agreement you will sign.

Still a good deal mathematically if you plan to keep the car long enough to use all four scheduled maintenance visits and prefer the dealer do the service. It's worth it to me to use them due to the warranty convenience for the first 4 years. An Indy obviously could not perform warranty work should the car have a problem (which, of course being an Audi, will happen).

Edmunds recently reported the 15K service cost them over $350 alone. Much higher than an Indy to be sure but it is what it is if you plan to use the dealer service dept.
