My engine overheats when stationary for an extended period of time and the A/C isn't very cold—I am pretty sure my Radiator Fan Assembly needs replaced. Today, I noticed coolant leaking from under my car and when investigating further, the coolant reservoir was boiling and emitting pressurized steam. Is this some sort of safeguard?
Hey Man, did you ever get this sorted out - what was wrong with it?
I took everything apart and found that some asshat disconnected the radiator fan. It turns out that there is also a hole where the coolant reservoir cap threading is that allows steam and excess coolant to be expelled when under pressure. A year later I am in the same boat again--this time I think it's the coolant pump.
oh wow... thanks for the reply...good luck in sorting out..I'm in the same boat
Good Day Bud,
I have a similar issue with my b8 1.8 tfsi- I have coolant boiling overflowing from my reservoir, engine also overheats , however ever when I turn the heat on, the temp does not go pass 70, no coolant over flow, boiling or engine overheating.
I have replaced (with a used unit -just for testing purposes) the thermostat housing + water-pump , however issue still seems to persist.
