Rims go BLACK! Fasst :( - Brake dust issues Help ?!
Hey Everyone,
I am new to the Forum. I became a member before buying my Audi and thanks to your comments avoided buying the wrong one! I bought a Ibis White 2010 CPO Audi A4 Premium Plus with Sports Package and 6MT and upgraded performance cat-back exhaust. The car is awesome and I love driving it... the sad part is after a detail (which I love to do) the rims go dark sticky black fast! The brake dust spreads fast/thick and quick. I have the spoke style 18 inch OEM rims on the sports models... not the Prestige wheels. I asked Audi as my G35 before with 19's and performance brakes never had such brake dust issues... is there something I can do. The dealer was like everytime you change your brakes you have to change the pads and the rotors... that cannot be true can it? Because, I have always just turned rotors when doing a brake job... of course depending on the life left in the rotors... that has to be dealer money-making BS right?
Is there anything I can do like:
1. Getting ceramic brake-pads?
2. A particular wheel wax that will help the brake dust glide off?
3. Different rotors (she currently has the OEM rotors)
The car brakes well... but cosmetically she looks dirty after 24 hours of a deep cleaning and that is just heart-breaking!
The rotors and brakes are what the dealer or previous owner put on... so not sure how great or not great their quality is.
Let me know what your collective knowledge advises!
Appreciate the Help!

Get Simple Green cleaner - spray it on and then run it through a car wash (power wash). That works best.
Real gear heads know that the brake dust is the mark of a good car...
The pads have been replaced once but the rotors were not replaced.

I've had my 09 A4 for just under a month now and was noticing the same thing. but like the other post says i also noticed that when i had put some good brakes on my old A4 they too put out mass amounts of brake dust alot faster. for right now im not to worried about it. but let me know if you come up with anything else to keep the rims looking good!
