Default iPod integration

I saw on the Audi site that they are now offering a factory plug for mp3 players in the glove box as an option, but only for the A6 and up.

Why would Audi think that A4/S4 users wouldn't want this option?

A6 (C6 series) has a different electronics package than A4. The new A6 electronics are shared with the Q7.
20007 A4 seems to have retained the older electronics package

just released in the UK and legal here now is the FM in car transmitter which eliminates all those leads, it connects to the ipod and sends the signal to the radio so it can be heard through the radio

I would hope that Audi will work it out so that you can control your mp3 player from the controls on the S4 steering wheel and using the Nav screen. From what I can tell, they aren't there yet.

There is an Ipod hook-up for the A4 (2002+)

Go to Audi.com and click on accessories:
Item #8E0051444

Does that accessory allow you to operate your iPod via the steering wheel and MMI screen?

I was talking about as a stock option(or standard), like in the armrest of 3series BMWs.

Dont bother.
Not worth 400 dollars (with install)
I had it, and it s piece of crap. So much so, i got it uninstalled asap.
I have the 2006 S4 with the Nav and everything.
It disabled my 6disc changer, and locked up the Ipod so you couldnt even choose any song you wanted.
Now, it displays on the nav screen as this:

"Track 1
Track 2"
etc etc.

Now if you are like me, i have over 3000 songs on my ipod. How the hell can i fiugre out what song im going to listen to if they dont even have the anmes.

My opinion.
Dont waste your money.

well, i have just orderd the 08 A4 and as an option i got the satalite nav with ipod interface! All it is is instead of having a 6 disk changer you have a singal disk and a ipod connection in the glove box.

personally i prefer the singal disk and i-pod connection as you only listento 1 cd at a time anyway and you have you ipod withs hundreds on it aswell.
