Default 1986 5000cs turbo-no spark

Had this car given to me, guy said it was a fuel issue... turns out no issue there, but I'm not getting any spark at the plugs or distributor... have heard about problems with the hall sender, but any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance

I had to replace the distributor in my 87 5000S Q a while back. The Hall sender was going flaky and it would just die. Picked one up at Advance Auto for about $200. No problems since.

Thanks dave944. Those are the symptoms he gave, but since I have gotten it, it won't run at all. I'm hoping to get it running. Such a cool little car!

Mine finally died one day. Would not start like yours. That's when I broke down and got the new distributor.

Getting the part in today, any tips? I also bought a Haynes manual. Kinda nervous, never messed with timing or anything like that.. Fingers crossed!

Nothing really. Just be sure to bring the engine up to TDC on the flywheel. Here's a shot from my repair manual that shows how to set it. Just get that rotor pointed toward that slot in the distributor housing and you should be good. The picture showing the cam gear timing mark is upside down in the book for some reason. It is visible right at the front of the valve cover ahead of the #1 spark plug. Make sure the 0 on the flywheel is halfway covered by the molded in tab on the bell housing and you're at TDC. If you can get it lined up, the ECU will take care of the rest.
