Default 1986 Audi 5000 CS Turbo Quattro HELP!!!

I was just givin this car, for the reson it quit running. I dont have any experience with audi's so not sure what to check next. It's not getting spark, and its not getting fuel. If I take and put a fuse in the fuel relay, the fuel pump will kick on, as well as the fan. This seems like a fun car, and really want to get it going. Does any body have any ideas?

Thanks

Well running the on board diagnostics, it gives the code 2113 (Blink Fault Code), VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number 00515 Hall sender in distributor Distributor alignment, faulty sender, Mis-located sensor & distributor. Does any one know if this stops the fuel pump too?

Sounds like a classic Hall Sensor failure, with no tachometer signal the fuel pump doesn't run except during the initial key on. You are looking at about $200 for a remanufactured one. Distributor Hall Sensor check

Nice find, I didn't think that anybody sold the hall sensor buy itself anymore. If it fits a 1991 100Q I will be getting one pronto! When I blew mine I looked all over the place and couldn't find one. One guy told me that there used to be a kit for $40 with all the parts to do the job. To change it you will have to grind a slot in the temper proof bolt. then you will have to grind down the pin on the distributor gear and using a drift punch drive the pin out. The rest is a piece of cake.

Well glad i could help. Well with this car came 10 boxes of parts. Luckily there was also another distributor. So I put it in and it still isnt starting, so I ran the diognostics again and now it is giving the code 2322 (Blink Fault Code), VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number 00523 Inlet air temp Open or short circuit Defective sensor or wiring Symptom: Slight power loss, Increase in fuel consumption

Well its now getting spark, and its geting fuel to the fuel filter, but it is still not starting. Do you have to bleed the cis system? Any ideas?

I never had to bleed my Audi fuel system from the fuel pump forward but if you have fuel flowing out of the fuel line when the pump is running then you are doing OK. To bleed I would jump the fuel pump relay for 15-30 seconds, that is more than enough to run the air out of the fuel filter. If it is still not starting then it might be couple possibilities.
1) Cold start circuit; cold start injector, temperature sensor, differential pressure regulator, ISV, etc.
2) Timing is off the mark.
3) Low compression.

Awsome, thanks for the help!

Any idea were to find a temperature sensor, asuming its the Intake air temperature sensor, becuase its giving that code again. Which can that actually cause it not to start.

Then also, should the compression be about 120 psi or so, like on any other engine. Because it is only reading about 60 psi

Thanks again offramp

60PSI!!! [sm=insomnia.gif] You will never get that engine running. You will need well over a 100Psi across the board to get that engine to fire up, probably even closer to 130+.

When you did the testing did you remove all the spark plugs, held the throttle open and used a fully charged battery?
