Default 1990 200 turbo quattro starting

I bought my first Audi a few months ago and immediately fell in love with it. It had little to know problems...and being a college kid it is cool to say you own an Audi when people ask...

It has taken a few seconds of turning over before it will start. The guy that I purchased it from said that it did that. I always thought that that was hard on the starter and in the beginning of December the starter did finally decide to die. I read on this forum that this was a common problem and that many of you solved the problem by just replacing your starter. Well I have replaced it and yet it still takes a few seconds of turning over before it will start.

Is this going to ruin my new starter? Or is it normal and should I ignore it?

Thanks!

I drove the Audi from my home in Harper to school here in Emporia, KS this weekend. I noticed that every once in a while that there would be a sudden loss in power. It was slight and lasted maybe one second at the longest. It happened several times however it would always return to normal. Is there something that I should be checking?

My 10 valve '89 200 Quattro does the same thing. I've replaced the starter once too, it always takes some time to start. The loss of power could be a fuel pump issue or an issue with a leaking boost hose

Default long starting?

these models as well as many others of this era had bosch CIS fuel injection which incorporated a few sensors that communicated with the ECU to either richen or lean the fuel mixture. check to see if the cold-start injector circuit is operating properly also check whether the coolant temp sensor (3pin) is in operating order. Thats what was going on with my 1991 200 turbo.
