Hi Folks

I have just bought an 1994 Audi 80 tdi and i seem to be having a slight problem with it, been doing a fair bit of milege latley, motorway miles mainly doing 60mph. Some times when i put my foot down on the accelarator the car jitters, loses power for a second and then starts running as normal. At times it will chuck out black smoke but not all the time. It seems to be getting more and more frequent now. I have found by releasing the throttle and only pressing down slightly seems to keep it running, untill i need to overtake a truck and put my foot down and its coughs and struggles.

Now im not sure what it is but my first thoughts was that it maybe an EGR valve issue.

Any ideas and assistance would be greatley appreciated
