Default 5cyl turbo sputters

Well, i picked up an Audi 90 Quattro (1988) with an Audi 5000Turbo motor installed. The motor has 2 problems. 1-It idles up and down a steady surge then drop. The Narrowband A/F gauge shows the fuel spiking to rich then leans off the board. Im assuming this is whats causing the 2nd problem of when the car is under load and starts to get to full boost(set to 6-7psi) and you floor it the motor starts to bogg out. Here is a pic of the motor, from what i was told it all looks like 5000parts.

Thanks
Dave

idle problem is most likely caused by the ISV -> kleen it good and when you think you have kleened it good do it again , trust me .... and at 7psi you might be hitting overboost protection ... which in turn would suggesr a faulty wastegate or wg diaphagm .... check the hoses comming from the wg and replace and also replace the crankcase breather hoses

hmmm, ill definetly start digging on that. I also went to move the car this morning, first time ive started it when it was cold and the idle was actually good, a bit high but no surges. Does the 5000T motor have a coldtemp injector?

Thanks again

damn skippy .. get rid of the BOV ... then at least you'll be able to diagnose better ... some *** clown modded the car before it was running right to begin with ... I'll bet a 1$ on that ... keep us informed and we'll try to help
