Default '91 100 no acceleration

We recently had the exhaust system redone on our Audi 100. But since then it has no acceleration. If we put the pedal to the floor I still think my son goes faster on his tricycle. The reason we took it in was it had a very bad exhaust leak and was loud, and due to the vacuum problem it caused it was slow on the uptake, but now having it fixed it seems worse. Any suggestions of what to try next or where they could have messed up? On the highway we cannot go any fatser than 60 MPH , at that point it seems like the pedal is pushing back.

I think this is your problem and not the exhaust, unless you got your exhaust from some warehouse that has a rodent problem and now you have a nest inside the muffler. Did you replace the catalytic converter? If not it might be "plugged up" Attach a tune-up vacuum gauge and check your readings. I am not sure what is a normal reading is for Audi's but 17 - 22 inHg is generally normal. If you get something close to "0" then your exhaust is plugged.

On the intake side it could be a very dirty air filter, massive intake vacuum leak, sticking mass air flow sensor, fuel starvation, wrong ignition timing just to name a few. It could even be a problem with the automatic transmission if you have one.

Thank you for the input , I think it may just have been plugged, within a day or 2 it started running much better and has been ever since. Now if we can just get it to pass emissions we will be all set. The HC levels are through the roof and we dont' know what to do next.
