engine swap
i have a 95 audi 90 quattro. it has the 12v 2.8l engine in it. the engine is on its way out. i want to swap it for the inline 5 20v turbo from a 91 audi 200. has anyone done this before and any other suggestions for engine swaps would be great.

RE: engine swap
its been done in the UK but it had to have the catalysts/O2 sensors/wiring//ECU-ECM and tuned ( remember all the cats/O2 sensors/EGR system are deletable on the newer cars ) as long as it meets the emissions tests,
1993 was the time the emissions were made law in the UK and prior to that they didn't have to have any of the later stuff but many did conversions to eliminate the BHP killers

RE: engine swap
I don't know smog rules in UK. I do know the turbo conversion requires quite a bit of cutting and fabrication of steel to make room for the turbo and intercooler. The swap takes at least 100 hours of labor. Do the math. In the US it is a $12,000-$15,000 job to complete.
