can anybody tell me what this does? i noticed i had a couple of leaks in the hoses that connect to it.

Yeah its your ISV (idle stabilizer valve) and if you have a few leaks than patch them up, vacuum leaks = Bad

yea i took care of the leaks and it fixed the slight stumble i had
