Default How to replace the crankcase breather filter?

Hi. I am new to the board. I was wondering if anyone knows how to replace the crankcase breather filter on a 1994 Audi 90s? I am getting blue smoke out the exhaust when the car is hot and I think the filter is the cause of the problem. Problem is I do not know where the filter is located in the engine to repair myself, and do not want to spend the money to have my Audi dealer do it, since I live in Brooklyn, NY and I have yet to find a good audi dealer mechanic. I.e. I brought the car into the dealer because I was losing power going uphill and they charged me $170.00 to tell me they couldnt find anything wrong with the car...
any help is much appreciated,
james

before you go ripping the cylinder heads off you can get an oil additive which re-vitalises the engine oil seals if the blue smoke is minor ask any aftermarket place ( STP )

I'm sure audi doesnt have one too, only fire preventing device from backfire into intake manifold, they dont want oil to catch on fire, do they.

I think my reply did not post, if it is a repost, my appologies.

The additive will not make the problem worse if it is the breather filter? Also where is the breather pipe? Maybe I can disconnect and
take a look to see if it is clogged or restricted with buildup of oil.

thanks,
james

they are located at the end of the each valve cover. there is a tube about 15mm diameter, that goes from the cover to the throtle plate.
