Strut insert info for my 89 CQ and stage 3 clutch
Hey guys.. I am ready to get some new strut inserts for the audi... anyone know if the inserts they sell for a 1990 would work in my 89?? Some seem vin specific but others dont.. Any idea where the part #s are on the inserts themselves?? Maybe I can have a guy cross reference them in the system..Hopefully I can have a nice ride
So far its been VERY rough since I have had it.. springs look new on it, but I dont know about the strut inserts. The rubber stuff looks ok other than the rubber ribbed stops.. puting new tires on it soon will help too i hope.
Also, anyone ever put a stage 3 clutch in one of these things?? What is the difference between a stage 3 and a regular clutch (say a sachs replacement)? Better performance? I was curious about it since I would get one if I decide to replace my clutch here soon..
Thanks in advance

strut insert are almost all the same, probably it will work without any problem.
the stage 3 clutch simply adds more clamping power. Unless you have moded car, there is no reaSON UNLESS its the same price or near.
oh, if you gona do struts your self, then you will need a coil compresor.

Ah the tools arent a prob.. there is a place on base that is a do it your self garage and you can use the lifts, tool room, everything for a very small price
way cheaper than going to audi and way easier than doing it in the garage.. thanks for the info... I thought they would prob be the same but was not sure.. I think the stage 3 and the reg clutch kit is the same price. My cuz put a stage 3 in his old corolla so i may do the same thing sometime
Thanks agaiN!

I have a 91 100Q and changed my struts/shocks a few months ago. The special strut tool will make the job a lot easier and is worth the $29+S&H that I paid for mine. You can use a pipe wrench or channel-locks to accomplish the same but if the cap is tight you can't beat the special socket and IR2131 impact gun.
As for the clutch, unless you are putting out a lot more horsepower over stock, you are wasting your $$$.

I think the place may have the special tool.. I asked the guy who ran the shop and he said he did... if not I would get it since it would be easier for me..
Yeah your right about the clutch.. if it isn't going to really do anything more for my stock setup then I would just get the sachs one. Thanks for the info
