Fuel FLine Problems - 1995 A6 Quattro C4
What I thought should be an easy job has turned into a nightmare.
So after driving the vehicle for extended periods of time (i.e. road trips) the car will not start after I turn it off unless I let it sit for about an hour. I believe this is either the fuel pump or filter, but for now Im just focusing on the filter.
I went to autozone, (for the last time probably) and purchased the fuel filter they had for my vehicle. After installing the new filter, the large nut on top of the filter sprays fuel through the washer when I start the engine. I have tried 2 different filters from autozone, both with the same result. The fuel does not leak from the bottom connection, only the top. No matter how much I tighten the bolt, fuel still sprays from between the washer and the nut. I have ordered an OEM replacement and it should arrive shortly, but I am assuming this issue is because the filter does not fit. Am I correct in this?
Also, any insight on the no start issue? Ive been told the fuel pump may get too hot after extended use, but the car will push start every time if I get it rolling fast enough. The starter sounds fine, it just sounds like fuel isnt making it into the engine.
Help?
