Gas smell in trunk of my 2001 A4 and it's not the basics I already looked

Default Gas smell in trunk of my 2001 A4 and it's not the basics I already looked

Ok so I have a 2001 A4 1.8 and I have a nasty gas smell coming form the driver side of the trunk on the inside now it's not what you think there's no leaks from any where the tank the fuel pump and the filler neck are all on the right side help me please!!!!!!!

I think there are fuel vapor recovery components (like the fresh air inlet hose and filter to the canister vent valve) on the left side, behind the rear part of the wheel well liner. Going off memory so don't quote me on that. It could cause a fuel smell if the system is open (damaged or malfunctioning), possibly the fuel smell could get inside the trunk from the drain hole or air release vent in the lower part of the inner 1/4 panel area. There's nothing actually INSIDE the trunk as far as the fuel system goes.
