Default Help with Injectors!

Car
2001.5 AWM 1.8T 5 speed
Cold Air Intake
GIAC 93 Octane

Those are the only upgrades I have on the car!

My question is I want to get a Test Pipe for it and with adding that to the upgrades I have now do I need to upgrade my stock injectors? If so.. What would be recommended?

Thanks!

you dont need injectors to upgrade to the test pipe. unless your looking at software upgrade, then follow what the software flash is calling for.

I have a stage 2 GIAC tune but it doesn't say anything about what to do when you add cold air intake and test pipe! I just don't want to run it lean with that much more air flow!

GIAC tune for the stock turbo? You are not going to run lean just from adding a test pipe and a CAI, this is why your car has a MAF sensor. When the turbo starts sucking in more air the MAF reads that allowing the ECU to increase the amount of fuel getting thru the injectors. The ECU also uses the wide band 02 sensor readings to make sure the AFR is correct and will use that to add more fuel if the AFR starts to lean out.

With stock injectors and a stock 4 bar FPR I was able to push my K03 to over 200whp (250chp), so believe me your not going to max out your injectors while making less power then that.

BTW stage 2 usually means a K04 upgrade when it comes to the B5 A4 1.8t. So I am not sure what this Stage 2 GIAC tune is that you say you have. I know they do offer a B6 Stage 2 tune for the B6 A4 1.8t, but that is just a injector upgrade seeing that the B6 has a non return fuel system. Not the case for your 2001.5.

If you've got a stage 2 tune make the car stage 2, I don't know if you had a shop flash it or just install the generic ECU mapping from the chip, but if you're doing a test pipe next, also get a ko4 and a VR6 MAF housing. Then you can start thinking about injectors, but bigger is not better, just try to get a little more juice and maintain the same spray pattern. Unless you had a shop flash for your specific car, then you're gonna have to re tune to benefit from more upgrades.

the K04 and maf housing upgrade both require a flash. if hes stage 2 and puts the K04 on, it wont benefit him much unless he has a flash/chip/tune for it. the upgraded maf housing is not needed with a K04 setup.

I believe that GIAC tune includes a K04 and the K03 will be problematic with the ECU mapped for more load then that small of a turbo can create, as for a larger MAF housing, definitely not needed, but my assumption is that stage 3 is on its way soon after stage 2. "Stage 2" should include the slightly larger turbo, and the GIAC chip is the tune you are talking about for that.
