I'm trying to figure this out too.
I have a 1998 ACK 2.8 litre non tiptronic 2 wheel drive & need a 8D0927156H TCM unit
The 8D0927156BE version is for a 2.8 Quattro ( interesting )
I am thinking there might be a slightly different version for the Tiptronic operation.
I tried putting in a TCM off a 2.4 2WD nontiptronic & the only difference was that the PRNDL display lit up, even after clearing the fault codes. ( I get a reoccuring brake switch code turn up, but the books says 'Not to worry about it, & if i i pu the brake pedal just before ( during?) Checking, it wont appear, but will any other time, though its meaningless, so ignore it )
The original computer got wet & fried itself. It brings up nothing on the gear display & is stuck in 4th gear with no movement in Park & a slight nudging forwards in N, & no reverse gear.

I was thinking of buying a BE unit because the H unit is real hard to find at a decent price, Installing it & changing the block code from 4WD to 2WD.
I'm not sure if thats even possible but i i think it is ( read about making them a rear wheel drive only car by doing something along this line )

I dunno how i even messed that posts facts up. Badly.
its a 2.8 Quattro, not 2wd

8D0927156H is the code for a 2.8 ACK Quattro with a cable accelerator. 5 speed auto.

I 'think' the 8D0927156BE version TCU is for the 'fly by wire' electric accelerator later model.
not 100% sure.
I have found a 8D0927156H for less than NZ$200 = US$140 but just picked up another 1999 A4B5 2.4 quattro wagon that is overheating so im working on that & a A4B5 2.4 2wd multifunction switch replacement now. Gotta figure out what gets the time & the $$ first.

On closer looking at the board, I find that it's Tantalum capacitors leads have corroded away.
I could expect that this is not the only damage, but of the several options, resoldering in new Tantis would be cheap, and if it worked, it would be a excellent fix..
The Tantis on the board are Black with three rows of two letters on it. Like this.
GG
6B
G1
Unfortunately this code does not mean anything from what I have found.
The other boards that I have seen photos of, have the Yellow Tantalum capacitors, if I could get a close look I could find out it's value & try replacing them. Their values are easily readable/decodable. It will be a really basic value too. Like 20 volts & X uf. It's the X that I need to know.
Another option would be to get a similar unit & swap whatever microchips are needed over, to make it work.

3rd option, a NZ$150+ one turned up on eBay, & NZ$356 on NZ TradeMe, hopefully they would take a equal $ offer.
