Default Where to look for Radio Code

To unlock a locked radio (seems to me a clever way for Stealerships to secure a constant revenue stream), the "Radio Code" is the first thing needed.

Where are typical places to look for this code?

In my case:
1998 Audi A4 1.8T quattro, B5, AEB engine.

This is a screen from the VAGcom. Can the code be retrieved with VAGcom?

If trying to locate the radio code in all the documentation/stickers/etc. (and if the previous owner didn't note it down somewhere in the documents), what is the process to get it? I read: Try your Main Dealer or a Decoding Service or your local Car Radio / Audio Shop (who are normally the cheapest option) who will connect it to a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM).

Are there friendly and helpful forum members out there that can also do it?
