Exclamation Mileage discrepency due to Audi Finchley Road London

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to reach out regarding an issue I have with my 2010 Audi A3 Sportback.

I have been taking my car to my local Audi dealership (finchley road, London) for every job imaginable. From cambelt change, to services and MOTs. They have had all my business since I bought the car.

However they caused a mileage discrepancy in my MOT for 25th of March 2015. Putting down the mileage at 50,669 instead of 40,669. I was assured that this year (2016) when I did my MOT they would rectify it as long as I inform them of the matter when they pick up the car to take to the garage. I did and when they returned the car they told me as the person who did the MOT last year was not there they could not inform DVLA. They left the mileage discrepancy in there and registered a new MOT. Bear in mind I also did my service with them at the time of the MOT which records 40,669 and also did a camblet a few months earlier which had a record of a 1000 or so miles less. They have fully taken responsibility for it after I contacted AUDI customer services who was useless in the matter. Only forcing them to address it.

So just to give you an idea, my full MOT record is below;

5 March 2013 - 24,067 miles
19 March 2014 - 32,422 miles
25 March 2015 - 50,669 miles (Should be 40,669)
21 March 2016 - 49,127 miles

I am quiet annoyed with this as when I want to sell the vehicle on, I can see issues arising and a potentially lost sale. Audi customer services did book me a time in with them to meet. I went in and all they could offer me was a letter assuring potential buyers that the mileage discrepancy was there fault, they said this should be enough to assist with the sale. I don't feel comfortable with this however as any checks on the vehicle will still flag up the mileage discrepancy which will make it look like I clocked the vehicle. Is there any potential Legal action I could take to receive potential compensation against the value of the vehicle which I believe they would have significantly affected.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Save all papers and complain to the person that did the MOT.
