clean Aluminum roof railing?

I just picked up my new Allroad yesterday and wanted to clean the roof rails. It looks like water/salt stain or something like that. What is a good way to clean that?

Maguire's (or whatever) metal polish, things will look like mirrors

while your at it, don't forget the bottom tailgate trim, and whatever else, I taped around my paint just to be safe
