Exterior Window Aluminum Trim Cleaning

Exterior Window Aluminum Trim Cleaning
I've tried for months to find something to clean the aluminum trim around the windows of my 2006 A4 with no luck. The aluminum trim around the trunk is easy to clean as are the chrome parts around the car's grille, but the window trim seems impossible. This issue has come up before I know, but has anyone come up with any solid methods for cleaning this stuff?
I've tried the mother's mag and aluminum polish and it didn't work. The instructions on the can say you should see the metal should turn black when applied (which eventually disappears once rubbed) and if it doesn't, it's not a polishable metal. And, unfortunately, it didn't turn black. I also tried an aluminum lubricant someone recommended on a VW forum (Passats apparently have the same problem) with no results, either. It shined up a little when wet but once it dried that old cloudy look took over again.
I know there are a lot of good metal polishes out there, but I'd love to hear from people who have actually used these products on the particular parts I'm talking about and seen results that lasted. I'm about convinced nothing can be done but if anyone has got some tips, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!
