Default Leather Steering Wheel Cracked?

Hey. My '97 A4 has a steering wheel with leather around it. It's been in the sun for years and is getting pretty rough. I doubt there is any way to save it - that said, I'd love to save money. If anyone has ideas for saving it, what are they?

If I can't "save" the leather, what are some good replacement options? Any how-to guides?

what about a steering wheel cover. i bought one for my a6. and i got it at target. its black and has like a woodgrain look. the funny thing is that everybody thinks its the actual s.w. because the woodgrain matches the woodgrain in the car. and the leather goes perfect with my car. hell i even fooled my mechanic who also has an a6 and he was tripping cuz hes never seen a steering wheel like that and he thought it was the origional. just get one thats not too crazy

joesta19, that would be a good option for protecting a leather replacement. I guess that's what I'm bent on - a leather replacement. I always replace the shift **** every few years, but have never done the steering wheel. Oh well!

You can always swap out the steering wheel, but thats a little bit of a lengthy process.

Wrapping it and having it look good is very difficult. My buddy owns an upholstry shop, and he says it's next to impossible to replace the leather on the steering wheel. I wanted to go with suede, and he talked me out of it.

Hi, friends I have such a situation. I had an accident a few days ago. Nothing terrible happened, thank God. But during the blow, I hit the steering wheel so hard that it just cracked in half. Now, as you know, I could not drive a car. I came across these leather steering wheel covers reviews. Have any of you bought at least something on these sites? What are your impressions? Thanks for your feedback. Have a nice day, everyone.
