Today my wife's 2008 Audi A3 (60,000 miles) went to the dealership for an inspection and a new headlight. Audi has informed us that the "shutter" in the headlight has failed and that the entire passenger headlight needs to be replaced. In addition they have indicated that the high beam will not stay on for more than 5 seconds on the drivers side. They are saying that this is probably a sign that the drivers side headlight should also be replaced. Obviously these are very expensive lights. Is this a common problem? Is there something else that might be going on or that could have caused this problem.
