Default Climate control switches to Celcius on cold startup

This switch from F/C started a while back (maybe 6 months or so, not 100% sure) and gradually got worse. I suspected a low battery and since it only had 11.2v after having the key on for a few minutes not running and the fact it was 5 years old. Replaced it and no luck, still doing it. After car was running for a while and you make a quick stop (30-45 minutes) it will stay on F, but much longer and it will switch on startup.

Anyone had this and find out what the solution was?

Other issues not sure if related, are the parking assist beeper no longer works, got intermittent and then stopped completely...

2002 S6 Avant 4.2l

This seemed like the most likely spot to post this, not sure....

The coding might need to be changed due to a low battery. Sometimes the coding will have a default setting when it looses power.

Coding? Done with VAG or through HVAC control panel?
Could you elaborate?

This could cause it to randomly switch even after I switch back to F from C? Not sure why it would switch only randomly. Temp and mode settings never change at all, even after battery disconnect...

The low voltage could be due to your alternator going bad, if a new battery didn't help. I know you can manually switch from Celcius to Fahrenheit, but I have no clue why it would happen on start-up.
