you should be able to fit that 5 1/4" comp set. you will however need to make a baffle to mount the speaker to since it mounts to the door panel, not the door. Make sure it wont hit the window as well. I would suggest having your local stereo shop do the install.

well my friend is a master installer and having done the system in my car (in the interior section under custom trunk)this is what he had to say about it. "not only can you fit 5 1/4's but it is also possible to fit 6 1/2's." he is not saying it is easy but it is totally possible. but of course he has been a professional installer for 8 years so it only took him about 3 hrs to do the 6 1/2's in both front doors. he said you just have to be brave and not be afraid of modification to your door panel and you just have to be creative. if anyone is in the rhode island area and would like to see the car in person just come on down to BODYMARKS TATTOO STUDIO in West Warwick i will glady show you the difference 6 1/2's make.

I went to have a 5.25" Boston Acoustics comp set put in my '01 A4 and they told me that they were too deep and that the the windows would hit them when put down. I was also told that the size of the factory speaker was actually around 4.5".
