I just took delivery of a 2011 A3 and I am about to start on the upgrades that I consider 'necessary'. These necessary upgrades include a double din navigation head unit. I've been going through the boards here and found everything that I need to complete the installation so I am good there. However I have one question that I cannot find any information on.

The Driver Information Display window with the stock radio shows the general audio information (channel, preset, mode, etc).

For those of you that have installed an aftermarket radio what happens to that area on the DID? Does it just go blank or does it throw an error? I can't believe that the new head unit will continue to show that information but I am guessing here.

My problem is that I don't believe my OCD will allow me to have the DID showing an error so if that is the case I will have to start looking into the RNS-e system.
