First Mod: Aux input installation
Hi everyone - first post here.
For my first mod, I installed a Blitz Audio aux input today. I went with an aux input instead of a dedicated iPod interface so I can hook up a non-iPod audio player if I want to. The process is very well described in several other posts, most notably here: http://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/218162.phtml , but I thought I'd point out a few differences that I encountered with my newer model A4 and my choice of installation location.
Attaching the Blitz to the stereo:
1. B7 SymphonyII+ has a different connection harness than earlier models. Make sure you get the right Blitz for your car!
2. Noob detail #1 - the edges of the 3-sided keys that Autotoys sells are sharp! Wear gloves when removing your stereo or wrap the edges with tape, as you'll have to pull fairly hard. Time to change my band-aid.
3. Noob detail #2 - the wiring harness in the back is held in by means of an arm that rotates down to lock it into the stereo. That in turn has a little catch that you have to release to be able to lift the arm, then pull out the harness. You'll see what I mean when you pull it out.
4. You'll need a very tiny star-shaped screwdriver bit or a pair of pliers to remove the screw for your ground wire.
5. When grounding the blitz to your stereo, the heads of the screws on the back of your stereo are much smaller than the hole in the Blitz's ground wire. You'll want a small washer or the like in order to screw it down.
Running Aux cable through glove box:
1. B7's have several extra screws holding in the glove box than other installation reports indicate. There were about seven inside of my glove box, plus the two underneath. If the box doesn't drop down easily, you've missed one.
2. there is a pre-notched square hole in the upper left corner of the glove box, presumably for accomodating iPod or cd changer wiring. I used a screwdriver to pop out the square.
3. I was able to pass the audio cable by hand out the back of the stereo compartment into the glove box compartment, then through the hole I'd just popped open in the glove box. There's enough slack in the cable that it reaches both of the front seats easily, but stores out of sight in the glove box when not in use.
In closing:
20 minutes my eye. More like an hour and a half for a reasonably handy guy by the time I figured out how to remove a screw that I didn't have a bit for, bridged the screw and the ground wire with a jury-rigged mini-washer, and discovered the extra glove box screws. It sounds great though, so as long as no smoke leaves my dashboard on my way into the office tomorrow I'll be very pleased with my first
Good luck!

You hit CD twice. The first time selects the changer in the head unit, the second time selects the glove-box changer, which is replaced by the aux input.
Jude, Autotoys responded very quickly to my questions - they're probably a safer bet than me.
Has anyone else developed a rattle as a result of adding this or a dice box? The only place the Blitz box seems to fit is in the back-right of the stereo compartment, and it sounds like it's jiggling against the wall facing the glove box.
