Default got a sweet deal

a coworker was selling his car so instead of selling his box with it he sold it to me for $140. two JL 12's in wedge box and a 400 watt eclipse amp. underpowered if you ask me but a good deal and i'm not going crazy. this is the problem. I can run the power line, remote line, etc. I just cant get the signal from the head unit. trust me I have searched. do I splice the rear deck speaker before/after amp? use LOC? or high to low converter? or just get it done professionally? If so how much should I expect to pay if I run everything but my signal? i really dont trust myself soldering and stuff but if someone has step-by-step instructions I may try it. circuit city wants to put in a LOC. should i go to a private audio shop and have them do the custom job or what? any advice is much appreciated and I thank any of you who can lead me in the right direction.

Stock deck i take it???? if so goto local shop or store and get a line output inverter. Shgould be like $20 that will give the radio a spot to plug in your RCA cords and run them back to your amplifier.

ok so got the headunit out. now my problem is that the amp wont power on. I have the remote wire to the 75x under the kick panel and the amp powers on for 3-5 seconds then the little light just goes out.

I have done this with signal connected and without. is the amp bad or do I just need to find a new ground or what? i have it grounded to one of the metal clips on the floor of the trunk. under the carpet i have the ground screwed in between the metal clip and the trunk floor.

I have power because if I wiggle the ground it kind of sparks a little. please help! I'm about to just bring it somewhere and have them do it but I would feel a lot better if I could accomplish this. thanks.
