Default ipod and/or XM in 2007 Avant A4?

hi (already posted this in the A4 forum - hope nobody minds the double-post) - I'm in the midst of spec'ing and ordering a new A4 Avant (stoked!). but! I have gotten addicted to having both XM and iPod in my previous car (aftermarket solution). so I want to make sure I can get the same in the A4. so I have two questions:

a. anybody got good experience doing this (preferably in such a way that both are genuinely integrated into the car)?

b. does getting the navigation system prevent this or make it significantly harder? (the Denison website, for examnle, kind of wiffs on the the issue - kind of says it doesnt matter, kind of says it does).

many thanks!

Joe

i would tell you to go to a local stereo shop. im sure that they can order you something. peripheral should make a direct adapter for the ipod or at least an auxillary unit that you can use to hook the ipod and sat radio to.

joe,
It is very easy to have both XM and ipod. Go to audiworld.com and search the audio/electronics forum.

options:
1) if you factory order your B7 A4 with the RNSE nav head unit, you will have the glovebox CDC wiring....which is also prewired into the audio pass through for the xm/sirius tuner in the trunk. Therefore, all you need to do is plug in the ipod interface into the glovebox wiring. pretty easy.

2) if you don't factor order the rnse, you can still do this, but it requires running three wires to the trunk. FYI - you can add the RNSE for about $1600 and add all this stuff later and not have to pay factory costs. The RNSE is a $2000 option from the factory.

Good luck!

Can this be done if you did not get the NAV system; forget the ipod for a sec; can I get xm in an a4 2.0T without a nav. I saw an xm tuner on ebay for $200 dollars; can this integrate with the stereo on the a4 without NAV

yes, this can be done. Requires some additional wiring. This is something that I build for lots of folks who are adding oem xm/sirius etc with or without the RNSE navigation unit.

Drop me a note if you are interested.

You can have Ipod integration as well as xm radio in your audi. None of it will mess with your navigation. The only thing you will not have is a cd changer. When you install the kit you plug it into the wire harness for the cd changer.
