ok I researched it in my haynes and I can't figure out what I did wrong... someone dummy slap me and tell me how to redo this,.. i'm too tired. My car was recently vandalized and they ripped out my double din touch screen. and unfortunately also broke some of the factory speaker wires to the harness somehow. I managed to splice some wire between them to make connect again only problem being i now have sound from the rear speakers but its so minor even with full rear fade and volume blared they barely squeak. the wires that were damaged were the blue with red stripe and the blue with green stripe as well as two wires that were identical both brown with a red stripe. ( I'm assuming negatives). Now if both of the positives are wired correctly and just the negatives are crossed do you think this would cause this problem or maybe Im wrong and they are positives. I hate f**kin similar colored wires. and that haynes manuals for b5's are the same as passats. Yes they are similar but not identical. ARGH I know its a simple answer and Im to stressed to mess with it

Like I was trying to tell someone else, but to no avail because he has a completely different set up, my car stock rear speakers had a built in amp. Without power to the amp, the speakers put out really little sound at all. I don't know the wiring schematics at all, and I can't help you there, but if you have a similar set up, it sounds to me like your amp either isn't getting power, or your line out from the HU is going straight to the speakers instead of through the amp. Hope this helps at least point you in the right direction...
