Default Oh crap well now what

Ok 07 q7 I temp. hooked up an aux in most interface to the cd changer and I had it all working great (to connect iPhone for music) but I took the changer back out to run the wires properly to mount the mini jack, in the process of sliding the changer back out I pulled the wires out of the connectors and the ground touched the red (hot) so I assumed I fried the changer, I ordered another and apparently it's not the changer so my question is should I pull power from the climate control now or actually attempt to trace back the wire from the changer I think I fried the wire?, all the fuses are ok nothing is popped when I hook up the fibre optic loop the mmi/ stereo works fine
Any input appreciated Tia!

I hooked up a voltmeter to see if the wire was hot the red and green off the cd changer plug are hot 13.62 the red and brown won't give a reading yet this is what powered the aux most interface? So why isn't the changer powering up ? Is it possible I knocked it into safe mode? Both changers ?
