Default Power window switch logic

Hi, new to the forum with a wierd question right from the top. Full disclosure, I am not an owner, but like the cool parts so I am using some for a street rod.

If I am not wanted here, I understand, but I am at wit's end and looking for some help. Here goes...

I have an 2003 A4 arm rest with power window switch that I would like to use. The switch that I have has 4 connectors but the mating harness only has 3 wires. I added the 4th wire hoping to gain connectivity between 2 pairs of wire, one pair in the up position the other pair in the down position. I only have connectivity in the down window position.

My next step is to tear apart the switch to see how it works, but I know that I will ruin it in the process.

Can anyone help me with the logic of this switch?
