Remote starter & steering column

Remote starter & steering column
Hello, I have a 2005 Audi A6, quattro 3.2l. I have decided to install a remote starter for the winter. I went to an authorized Audi dealer. 900$ for a Python Starter. The car worked fine for the next 2 days. The third day, I parked the car at work. When I finished, I start the car with the remote but the car did not start. It was snowing that day and the car was covered with snow. I then went inside and tried to start with the key but everything was dead except the MMI and lights. Not able to put the neutral. I was obliged to tow the car to the Audi dealer where the remote starter was installed. They checked and say that steering column needs to be replaced. Another 2000$. I am wondering if there is any link between the installation of the remote starter and the problem I had with the steering column. Bad installation, wiring, etc. Could it be the dealer fault ? Or it is a pure coincidence ?
After they recheck the installation of the starter and changed the steering column, the sensors on the 2 front doors stopped working ? Is this a coincidence too ? could 2 sensors stop working at the same time ?
Does anyone have an answer ? Opinions ? thanks.

Without actually checking the car out is hard to put blame anywhere. With that said , the steering column maybe , but both door switches , nor very likely.
As far as the remote starters i am not a big fan of them. They are made of cheap Chinese electronics that are not designed for your specific vehicle. I have customers all the time asking me to install them & i say no , but i will remove them when they prevent your car from starting!
