Roof antenna replacement for radio - how?
I took my 2002 A6 Avant into an audio specialist to have a redundant hands-free phone kit removed, while it was there I asked him to find out why the AM radio reception was non-existent. They advised that the amp in the base of the roof aerial had failed - they connected up their own test antenna to the head unit (Symphony 2) and the AM reception was fine. They quoted GBP 100 for a new aerial plus fitting, seemed rather a lot to me. Can anyone advise me what is involved in fitting a new roof antenna please? Mine is situated near the very back end of the roof. I think I would have to remove some of the interior trim to fix this. Any tips would be appreciated. TIA, Ian.
