Anyone know about smart coding in 2002 or later audis. I read that if battery is disconnected I won't need the code to unlock radio as long as the radio is in the original vehicle? Any truth to this?

I'm installing ice link plus, and need to disconnect battery and don't have the code. Any help greatly appreciated.
