back in the day alternator whine was cured by a resistor put in line, can't recall details but i had the issue on my 56 chevy, big alpine amp hot msd ignition, sorry i can't be more specific, search may turn up something

 

Oh so i tried grounding the Rca cables since its a pioneer, but they are external so i wrapped the copper wire around them and then grounded them at a screw on the head unit.

It silenced the whine a noticeable amount but it is still there and painfully obvious.


I think what im going to end up doing is soldering in a resistor where the pico fuse is to fix it.

 

It is alternator whine. You just need a filter to get rid of the noise. A quick Google search brought this up. http://www.sacskyranch.com/altnoise.htm I had this on an old 76 Chevy truck I had a long time ago after installing an amp and new radio. The filter I installed fixed it!

 

Do you know what filter you used?

The ones they recommend in here are for airplanes, which i imagine are slightly different.

Also, read the reviews. Some had to use two units to completely get rid of the whine. IE One on amp, and one on HU.

 

Ok, so i already have ground loop isolaters installed so i wont need those, When i unplug the antenna it makes no difference so it has to be the power supply.
In that case i'm going to make my own filter and post back up.
Ill make a run to get materials.
