Default Symphony II+ needs no code?

I've disconnected my Symphony II+ a couple of times while working to install an aftermarket H/U. It has not yet asked me to put in a code - shouldn't it do this after disconnecting power or is the Sym II+ different?

I think I read somewhere that the code thing goes out the window on 2004 and newer cars.

Default RE: Symphony II+ needs no code?

I was flipping through the manual, trying to find a place to hard wire my Valentine One in that was switched to the ignition (off topic, I know, but if you have any suggestions...), but anyways, I was reading that the new Symphony somehow codes itsself to "it's" car, and doesn't need a code unless it is moved to a different car. I got a code printed out on my service slip for it, though it was 4 digits, and I don't know if that is relavent. This is in a 2003 Audi A4 Quattro. Bottom line, it doesn't need a code unless its moved.
