Audi Allroad 2002 2.5L TDI

I have been having an intermittent fault that's been getting worst for the last 6 months.

When I turn on the car at cold, a few seconds after I get the warning and ESP dash lights and the cars idle revs up and real rough. This runs like this untill I back out of my garage and drive down the street to the first crossing when I break approaching, the warning lights clear and the car runs smooth again. The problem does not happen when the car is hot. only when cold.

I have replaced the break switch as suggested in reading these forums..... No Change

Any advise would be much appreciated... Thanks

 

If anyone else has this issue and symptoms, after 180Hrs plus of fault finding and 2 visits to the Audi dealership. A WATER TEMP SENSOR.

Audi dealership quoted $1500 to replace it. I brought it on ebay for $3.60 and took 4 minutes to replace myself.
