Can anyone tell me if the wires that plug into the factory amp on a 98 A6 with concert sound system are line level or low level inputs. I know which wires to tap into but unclear on whether i need to use a line converter or just splice with rca's. Thanks

elvis, i just tapped into the the speaker wires with some female end rca's......and it works great. I dont have speakers in the rear deck wich would have been a better option and using the high level adapter that came with the amp, but using the RCA's works and sounds good.

 

did you tap into the wires going to the speakers, or from the plug going into the amp?
if so what color wires on the plug did you tap into???
sorry i just read you first post, you know what wires to tap into.....witch ones..
sorry to ask , but i would like to do the same thing, and have no luck with the harnes to the stock amp.
hope it is the same with my 98 a4

ok i tapped into the wires that plug into the amp. I am not sure if your A4 is the same as my A6 but the wires that I taped into are: LR+ (Brown/red) LR- (blue/green or blue/red) RR+ (brown/black) RR- (red/green). Oh and I used the white wire for the amp remote turn on as it is switched with the ignition. I am new to the sit but when i figure out how to post a pic i will do that or just email one to you so you can see with your own eyes first. Some times actually seeing it in a pictures helps with understanding it better.

ok here is a real dumb one(i should know this) on a rca plug, is the outer ring positve or negitve?
also if you look down while replying there is a blue tag that reads (Click here to upload! ) that is how you insert a pic.
but it takes small pic's.
