99 headlight conversion question

99 headlight conversion question

So, I have a 98 Audi a4 quattro 1.8T blah blah. Anyways, I heard we have to trim the fender to get the one piece headlights to fit. Wouldn't getting a fender from a 99 be easier or is it more complicated than that...?
